Double-Probe & Topside-Ionosphere-Sounder (DPTIS)

Borealis Designs joins the Lowell Digsonde International to build a Small Satellite-based System for Active and Passive Sounding of the Ionosphere, DC through HF.

Primary sponsor: Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

Under the AFRL award via LDI, Borealis Designs will build flight, ground support, and data analysis software for a new spaceborne instrument "DPTIS" (Double-Probe & Topside Ionosphere Sounder) that simultaneously measures in situ electric fields and the vertical electron density profiles from the spacecraft altitude to the peak of the F2 layer in the Eart'h's ionosphere. Software development started in January 2014.

High-frequency Ionosonde specification of TID & EDP in Real-time (HI-TIDER)

Borealis Designs joins the Lowell Digsonde International for development of an intelligent software system to study 3D HF radiowave propagation through an adaptive real-time specification of  the ionospheric environment.

Primary sponsor: Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

Borealis Design will be responsible for  development of a NECTAR-based assimilative extension to the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) for 3D plasma environment specification in real time. The assimilative model will use ARTIST online data feeds from the Global Ionospheric Radio Observatory. Software development started in January 2014.
